1: OSS Operations Engineer
Department: Service Operations Center
Line manager: Head of Operations Systems Administration Unit
Main responsibilities
• Maintains operation and administration of OSS/EMS, including coordination with network engineers
• To carry full responsibility for the normal operation of the OSS/EMS network
• To perform support to the other units in case of faults and problems in the functionality of the OSS/EMS systems
• Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage and response times to maintain operating efficiency
• Manage the complex OSS/EMS system and related tools, plan work order implementation
• Ensure the performance and quality of the technical platform, servers etc. Including daily health checks and routine maintenance
• Control data flow from the network to the Network Management System and support team members on planning the corrections and extensions to the Network Management System platform accordingly
• Prepare action plans for future software and hardware upgrades in the Network Management System
• Co-operate with Network Operation Center personnel to assist in system fault resolution
• Support Process Management with OSS process interface know-how
• Support general OSS improvement lifecycle through feedback from users
Qualifications, Experience & Skills required for this position
Education
• Master or Bachelor’s degree in IT/Technical or relevant field
Experience
• All round Technical tools/IT project management professional with hands on experience of managing successful tool/package development and implementation projects
• Strong experience of implementation and configuration of OSS Tools in a Telco RAN environment:
• Preferably Tivoli NetCool, Arrays, RAN planning tools and Performance Management Tools
• Background in NSN, Huawei & ALU element management
• Implementation of workflows and changes in Arrays & Netcool tools
• Experience of delivering OSS/IT services in complex cross company solution and stakeholder environments
• Experience of managing vendor relationships and ensuring delivery of required output
• Strong understanding of Network / RAN Operations
Special professional skills
• Knowledge of eTOM and/or ITIL, Understanding of Telecommunications Operations Environments
• Server Systems Administration (Linux, Unix, Windows)
• RDBMS Administration (Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL)
• OSS infrastucture network management and administration (IP, Switches, Routers etc.)
• Backup Systems and/or Software Management
• Good knowledge for scripting in Unix-based systems
• Knowledge of Vmware virtualized environment management and administration
