Title: Mechanical Rotating Equipment Technician
Department: Engineering & Maintenance
Location: Sumgait
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for day to day maintenance and repair of rotational & stationary equipment, piping and vessel systems; check equipment and operating systems and correct wherever necessary; ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality. Mechanical Technician shall work safely and comply with all HSE requirements and be competent with the SP Control of Work system, comply with the daily/weekly work plan, ensure procedures are followed and effect high quality repairs, maintenance and servicing of equipment, with the aim of no rework, as well as to ensure documentation is completed when required and equipment history records are updated and accurately maintained.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out the maintenance and repair of various types ROTATING EQUIPMENT in the entire SP PP & HDPE plant equipment such as Pumps, Gear Boxes, Compressors etc. This includes the regular monitoring and rectification of defective equipment, disassembly, repair and reassembly of equipment and assisting in the installation and testing of new machinery. Carries out independently or under instructions, the complete or partial overhaul of plant equipment;
• Carry out routine maintenance on rotating equipment, carry out visual checks of seals for leaks, disassembles equipment, replaces parts as directed, cleans equipment, replaces packing and gaskets, repairs as appropriate, checks bearings and reassembles. Ensures correct alignment and tolerances, using precision measurement instruments, such as laser alignment equipment, DTI clock gauges, micrometres, gauges and Vernier’s;
• Repair, rebuild and/or replace plant equipment (e.g., pumps, motors, valves and packing, compressors, gearboxes, centrifuges, refrigeration systems);
• Perform preventive maintenance;
• Interpret manuals and drawings;
• Operate standard and precision shop tools and equipment;
• Align rotating equipment using laser and dial indicators;
• Interact with operations staff and engineers to diagnose and resolves upsets due to equipment failures;
• Work with engineers to resolve identified problems;
• Use vibration readings to evaluate and troubleshoot equipment performance
• Install blinds in piping and make up flanged and screwed piping connections
• Utilise SAP system to record work activities;
• Provide oversight of contractor maintenance employees;
• Documents work in accordance with established standards;
• Perform work in accordance with all established HSE procedures;
• Ensure mechanical spare parts availability for scheduled and projected jobs inclusive of spare inventory (physical) checking and stock inspections and preliminary liaison with Suppliers and Vendors for proposals etc.;
• Other duties requested by Line Manager
• All planned maintenance tasks (scheduled & emergent) relevant to rotating and auxiliary equipment and emergency tasks;
• Permitting compliance with safety requirements and liaison and coordination with other Departments as required;
• Ensures equipment, materials and tools are on-hand for work execution. Reports resources and time utilized, job scope expansion, rework or deferred maintenance as required; also keeping all tasks & activities logged and updated;
• Implementation of routine PM checks including vibration & temperature inspections on designated rotating equipment and ensuring logging or recording of all readings; includes preliminary assessment and reportage on as found conditions;
• Repairs to other static equipment as required – valves, pipe work, pressure vessels and tanks and such-like;
• Controls & supports on site Contractor work execution inclusive of crane rigging and lifting operations as designated;
• Ensuring work compliances to standards, tolerances and fits & working in accordance with sound engineering practices on all jobs under his purview, both On-Site and occasionally in Contractor Workshops; includes reading P&ID’s, Technical Literature and Equipment Manuals;
• Equipment Problems Trouble-shooting and Basic Root Cause Analysis and Development of Solutions;
REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE:
• About 5 years of proven working experience
• Repair and perform preventive maintenance as per established standards;
• Experience in Industry on a similar type facility & defined Mechanical equipment for SP;
• Use hand tools like power tools and rigging equipment;
• General Tool Usage experience;
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Advanced knowledge of Azerbaijani
• Good knowledge of English
• Knowledge of Russian is an asset
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Equipment Problems Trouble-shooting and Basic Root Cause Analysis and Development of Solutions;
• Ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality;
• Complex problem solving;

EQUPMENT SKILLS:
• Check equipment and operating systems and correct wherever necessary;
• Resolve pump, conveyor, static equipment and hydraulic system problems;
• Run diagnostic tests and adjust make sure each equipment is running at optimal performance. This typically involves using diagnostic software and complex problem-solving skills;
• Good PC skills;
• Experience & knowledge of SAP;
• Good knowledge of MS Office Applications and in-house software;
