Linux System Administrator

Required Skills:

• Experience with Linux servers in virtualized environments (Red Hat Enterprise, CentOS, other *nix OS)
• Familiarity with the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages
• A solid understanding of the Linux boot process and problem diagnosis
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as Apache, MySQL, Nginx and SNMP
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining monitoring systems such as Zabbix, Centreon, PRTG and etc.
• General knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, Load Balancers, Proxies, Firewalls)
• Ability to build and monitor services on production servers
• Excellent organizational, analytical and independent problem-solving skills

Nice to Have Skills:

• 3+ years of industry experience focused on Linux system administration
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related area of study
• Familiarity with load balancing and firewalls
• Strong grasp on configuration management tools, such as Puppet and Chef
• Experience maintaining open source packages and/or working with the open source community
• Experience maintaining large scale Linux implementations
• Experience with storage or backup verticals
• VMware administration experience (preferred, but not required)
• Experience scripting and writing/modifying code to improve monitoring/deployment (preferred, but not required)
• Certificates – LPI, Red Hat, GIAC (preferred, but not required)
