PASHA Bank is looking for a Lead Data Scientist who will be responsible for managing the team of 3-5 data scientists, planning projects, and creating analytics solutions that range from developing and delivering code and models, to digging for meaningful insights to improve business products and processes

Statement of duties

Managing a team of data scientists

• Detailed planning (incl. schedules, deadlines and key milestones) and resource allocation for analytical projects
• Set tasks for data scientists, supervise their work with hands-on involvement in model development
• Train and provide hands-on (coding) guidance for the team members
• Support data science team recruitment

Building analytics models

• Interpret and analyze data from multiple sources (structured and unstructured data both from internal and external sources: transaction data, client business information, credit bureau data, etc.) to produce imaginative solutions and insights
• Prepare structured and unstructured data (cleaning, wrangling, editing), ensure data quality and integrity
• Develop new models to improve bank’s products and processes (selected model examples: risk scoring, propensity models, client segmentation, etc.)

Translate insights to impactful recommendations

• Communicate with the Members of the Executive Board: understand, translate and map strategic priorities into analytical projects
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product development teams
• Present models to the key stakeholders; explain them in a digestible way

Knowledge, experience and skills required:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics or econometrics, physics or any related field)
• 2+ years of professional experience in managing a team of data scientists (setting tasks, organizing and scheduling work, building and developing the team)
• 2+ years of professional experience in building machine learning models in banks including their deployment in production systems to drive real business impacts
• Successfully completed projects using data analysis and machine learning technologies
• 4+ years of professional experience using statistical computer languages and excellent knowledge of data analysis and machine learning libraries (at least one of the following: Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Scipy, TensorFlow) or R)
• 4+ years of experience with additional programming languages and data analytics instruments (SQL, Alteryx and other)
• Advanced knowledge of machine learning, statistical and data mining techniques and strong experience in their usage
• Understanding of broad banking issues and analytics usage in banking
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
• Fluent in Azerbaijani and English, both verbal and written; working knowledge of Russian would be considered as an advantage
